(More customer reviews)This pencil torch is 7-3/4" long. The cylindrical body that stores the butane and acts as the handle is 3/4" in diameter. The soldering tip is removable and adds 2-1/4" to the length, resulting in an overall length of 10". There is a piezoelectric igniter that adds a little more than 1/2" to the width of the torch, making it about 1-1/3" wide. I really like the soldering tip because it makes it easy to solder outdoors (like when working on the car) and eliminates the extension cord that would be needed for a conventional soldering gun or iron. The tip heats up very quickly and can get extremely hot. The top of the torch (where the igniter is) rotates in order to regulate the size of the flame. I have two small complaints: (1) The regulator rotates very loosely and can be moved with the slightest bump. This can make it difficult to maintain a steady flame size. (2) The torch is top heavy, which makes it risky to stand it on end. I've toppled it over while hot on more than one occasion and am surprised that I haven't broken the ceramic-looking head yet. It cannot be laid over while its hot unless it is set on a non-flammable surface. It would have been nice if it included a small plastic base to hold the torch upright when you set it down; however, you could probably manufacture something yourself by drilling a 3/4" hole in a small piece of wood or plastic.
