Radio Shack branded this soldering iron for sale in their stores in 2003 and that's the model I've had ever since (need a new tip now, however :p).
It's convenient. If you're a smoker (or former smoker), you'll know how to use the spark wheel right away.
I've used mine in everything from solder work on car electrical systems to IC boards - about the only problem I've had with it is that Radio Shack no longer carries the tips or the iron itself any longer.
If you are new to soldering, this iron will spoil you. It's not the four inches of handle, and another 7 inches of metal iron that every electrical manufacturer makes - it's what a soldering iron should be - whether you're using the torch part of it or the tip, it feels and acts like a pen.
I've heard stories that the plastic that comprises the fuel chamber sometimes gets hairline fractures that cause the fuel chamber to pop, and I can totally believe them - the bottom of the chamber is the same type of acrylic used in household salt and pepper shaker combinations - but, so far (thankfully), that hasn't happened to me.
All in all, it is an incredibly compact, functionally useful iron - like a lighter, you can keep it in your pocket or backpack without a problem. About the only consideration you need to take when using it is to make sure you have a canister of butane near you, or keep it full (you never know what you haven't thought to solder until you have this on you).
