(More customer reviews)I ignored the other reviews and picked this desoldering tool because of the lower price and free supersaver shipping. Most of my electronics work is rebuilding vacuum tube amps and radios, which often have multiple leads twisted together in a single large solder joint, and have to be thoroughly desoldered to be taken apart. This Weller unit doesn't have the suction to get more than 60% of the solder out of a joint. I have to take it apart after every "suck" and use pliers to pull out the "tube" of solder that jams the tip. Depending on the way I hold it, the plunger will bind on my hand and not generate any suction, and it "jumps", making delicate work very difficult. My dad had Edsyn Soldapullt units when I was a kid that worked great, and I should have bought that. This Weller unit would probably work OK for PC board disassembly.
