I'll start by saying I'm not an expert when it comes to tape varieties, or the science of heat and soldering/reflowing. And that is the reason I purchased this tape in the first place: to keep a Thermocouple attached to a PCB (circuit board) during reflow work.
Needless to say, the tape didn't hold. Like I said, I'm a beginner, and not sure if there are special tricks or procedures I needed to follow, but I DID clean the board pretty well with alcohol, both before and after applying flux. However, with the heat gun trained on the board (and general proximity of the tape), the Kapton tape just kept coming up. The tape itself never melted away or anything, but it seemed like perhaps the sticky part on the bottom couldn't quite keep its hold on the PCB when the temperatures got up to the 240-260 C range. It's possible it came up only because the thermocouple was trying to lift up a bit, and maybe it needs the double security of Foil tape, with Kapton on top? The jury is still out on that one.
I gave this product 3 stars as I'm disappointed it isn't keeping its hold, but the possibility of user error kept me from giving it 1 star.
