(More customer reviews)This, the AS196 does not in fact outperform the blue and yellow original DS017, but it is in fact ESD safe.contrary to the amazon description for the DS017; which lists it as ESD safe, it is not according to the website. only the AS196 and the DS017LS are ESD approved. other than that, it is a vary dependable solder sucker, having used it literally hundreds of times before on slight "goof-ups" working in a Rohs soldering station for assembling power regulators. i would buy the cheaper DS017 if i wasn't concerned with static. here are the features from the web page.
